Arminy to Join Shireroth

News has just reached us that Arminy, on its last leg of life, is on the verge of ratifying a treaty with Shireroth which will make Arminy a Shirerithian Duchy. The Ricchesdey seems certain to pass the treaty, and this paper can't see any reason why the Landsraad in Shireroth wouldn't.

Shireroth is in many ways akin to Arminy, having its own somewhat Germanic culture. The Landsraad, for instance, is "Council of the Land" in some Germanic language (Low German? Norwegian?), and their Emperor is called Kaiser, while ours is called Keiser. The two countries certainly have a lot to other each other, and this paper believes this will be a mutually beneficial relationship.

The future of the Arminsbur3 Tyding is uncertain at this point. We may continue on as a Shirerithian newspaper, or we may simply close down. Only time will tell.

WAR! Arminy is currently engaged in a war with the majority of the Comintern nations, following an ultimatum to Babkha from the Red Antilles demanding immediate disarmment to makeway for the revolution. Following troubles in Red Antilles principle backer, Red Britain (social revolution and chaos among them), the invasion was quickly forgotten as Antica, switching quickly from Babkha's enemy to friend, instead invaded the Red Antilles. While the invasion there is now in trouble due to the entry of Red China and Charlotta into the mix, the coalition against the Communists has grown, now including Gotzborg, Cyberia, and possibly Karnali within the next few days.

The Arminian 1st Fleet has already been in action near Charlotta, in an indecisive engagement. The Arminian 1st and 2nd Armies have both been ordered out to undisclosed locations, along with the 2nd Fleet. The Iohnesbur3 Tyding salutes our boys in uniform and prays for their safety and swift return.

At home the situation with Alexandria has been resolved with an agreement for further cultural and recwar cooperation. Currently the treaty with Alexandria is failing however, due to a dispute over the official name of Arminy. It is the hope of this newspaper that this relationship is a long and prosperous one, following a correction on the treaty. Also in the Ricchesdey, the Arminian Make Up Act, which defines the different sections of Arminy, appears poised to pass.

Arminy received a visit this week from former citizen Gustaf Wahr, who appears to be considering returning, entirely on the King's prompting, he says. Mr. Wahr left the nation shortly after the Wahr Affair, when he plotted to get Attera to attack Arminy. He was eventually found not guilty in the trial. Another former Arminian who might be returning is Troy Thompson, former president of Slobovia. The Tyding hopes that both choose to return.

Week in Review 3

This week began in an absurd fashion, with the annexation of Madland (see previous issue(s)). While the MCS has not recognized either nations baseless claims to each other, there are rumors circulating of a RecWar via the RecWar Society. Along that vain, the Emperor is offering a job to anyone interested as head of the Arminian RecWar military.

We also saw two new Atredings, the first relating back to the above, the second to the power of a fief's owner within his fief. The Atreding defines and expands those powers, though not to the point found within the Holy Roman Empire. The Atreding also tackled the subject of immigration, updating the old citizenship form.

It has been a sad week in Arminy with the departure of one of the original founders and long time friend of the Emperor's, David Beckford. David had, among other things, managed the national forums and website, leaving their future uncertain. Most likely the job will fall to Erick Antersson, also known as Sander Dieleman.

The Atteran Government's Position on the Jacobus Problem

(Editors Note: While this paper does not often comment on foreign affairs, I've felt it necessary to present an opposition viewpoint to that currently dominating the local blogs. As my opponents have made no distinction between their opinion and fact, neither shall I. Comments may be addressed to the Prime Minister's Office in Attera.)
There has been much controversy of late over one Emperor Jacobus' attempt to enter his country into the Imperial Republic of Shireroth. While this issue does not directly relate to Attera, there have been several attempts to drag Attera into it. As Prime Minister of Attera, I have chosen a path which is designed to facilitate peace negotiations between Cyberia and Cyberia, two nations which have been in conflict for as long as five years. Atteran proposed conditions on Jacobus include that he renounce his claim to be the sole, legitimate Cyberia, renounce terrorism and subversion, change the name of the RCC and its provinces, with a single letter change (Ciberia) adequate based on the fact that Cyberia itself is merely a play on Siberia, and that he drop all letters of marque. This extensive set of demands, brought upon Jacobus by a nation which has no real reason to care whether he does any of them, should satisfy the VCC that Attera is continuing to uphold its sovereignty.

Jacobus has been a long term problem for the micronational community, and it has been shown they he will not simply disappear. While his incarnations of other states may be fleeting, that of RCC remains constant throughout micronationalism, and due to the VCC's insistance in somehow containing it, Jacobus must be dealt with. Based on the terms above, the main problem between the two nations should be solved: Jacobus will no longer claim the VCC. The other problems should remain secondary, and more easily solved once the first is knocked away. If the VCC does not accept this simple truth, peace will never exist between the two Cyberias.

I have been accused by the VCC of not living up to the treaty between our lands. Having read the treaty, I cannot see how this is so. By demanding Jacobus remove his claim over the VCC, we are upholding the sovereignty of the VCC. That is the only clause relevant to this discussion. Attera's tradition of honor, so carefully envoked by the VCC and by our own Ras Noseworthy requires us to seek an equitable and peaceful solution to the conflict. My demands, although blatent foreign dictation to a lesser power, the RCC, should keep everyone happy. If they are not met, of course this government in good conscience MUST oppose the RCC's entry into Shireroth. If they are met, however, any further complaints about Attera not living up to its honor, treaty, or other commitment, are nothing but sound and fury.

The underlying point I would like to make through this paper is that Attera has no business at all interfering in an affair that is clearly between Shireroth and the RCC. The VCC has more business, given the reasons already listed, but there is no reason it should expect Attera to blindly follow its party line. Attera does not take dictation from foreign nations, and neither do I. I take my orders from the Emperor, and I have no intention of allowing a foreign nation to trump my commitment to Him, or to the greater good of the Atteran people, no matter how good our friendship is.

Attera remains a committed friend and partner of the VCC. Friendship and moral support, however, cannot extend to us taking unwarrented action on their behalf. If this dampens our friendship with Cyberia, I am deeply saddened, but I will not take an unbending position on an issue which is neither our business nor being treated entirely fairly by the Cyberian government. Friends are supposed to tell their friends when they're being unreasonable, and that is what we're doing with Cyberia right now. With luck they'll realize that we're still friends, despite our differences, and continue in our relationship.

There has been some talk of having Jacobus extradited from Shireroth, where he is a long standing citizen, to stand trial in Attera for his actions performed under the guise of a letter of marque against friends of Cyberia. I fully endorse and support such a move. Jacobus' actions, though feeble, still constitute an attack on the Atteran nation, and must be punished. Just because we indict Jacobus on one account does not mean we cannot be prepared to compromise with him on another. The only way not to would be to somehow remove him from the micronational scene, and that's a step I, and I believe no one else, is willing to take.

I hope this has clarified the Atteran Government's position, and made it clear to all reading why we have made the choices we have.

Lemuria Recognizes Ricch's Claims: Antica to Follow

The Empire of Lemuria (or Lemvria if you don't want Sander to kill you) today has recognized all claims made by the Arminian Ricch, including those over Alisaundre. The reasoning behind the decison was "just for the hell of it." This comes as a strong blow to the remaining supporters of Madland's independence, who are probably in hiding somewhere. In addition, an unnamed spokesman of the Dinarchy of Antica has stated that his nation will probably recognize the claim over its former province, further adding legitimacy to the takeover.

Reports of rebels striking from the primieval forest which covers much of Alisaundre have been given, however the military and government have yet to comment. Rebel activity has certainly been dealt a serious blow by the death of the Emperor, Edgard, however there are rumors that a counsin of the Emperor's did escape the execution. So far, they remain unconfirmed.

Madlandian Resistance Crushed

Following the death of former Prime Minister John Harvey, Madland briefly simmered on the brink of revolt. The government Atreding announcing the annexation of Madland was ripped down, and at least one government soldier was shot dead. In response, the city of Kettle was razed to the ground, with all the men and boys killed, and the woman sold into slavery to Babkha. We are informed by the government that if anyone else kills or wounds an Arminian soldier, more atrocities will follow.

In the meanwhile, Edgard, nominal Emperor of Madland has been caught involved in a plot to expell the victorious Arminians. The bizarre plot involved declaring Arminy a part of Madland; it appears that the emperor has become senile in his old years, and was unable to realize that his army had been crushed decisively the day before. Nevertheless, Emperor Edgard was shot earlier this morning, along with his entire royal family.

The situation appears to be stabilizing, as rebels fear further reprisals upon them. More news as it comes.

Madlandian Prime Minister Shot Dead After Curfew

Madlandian Prime Minister John Harvey was shot dead here earlier tonight for being out after the curfew imposed by Royal Atreding 8. He was holding a copy of the Atreding at the time of his death, so his reason for so blatently forfeiting his life remains unknown. His last words, as recorded by Imperial Soldiers who came to finish the job after gunning him down were, "I find this very humorous. Especially for all the spelling errors." Exactly what was humorous about his untimely end, and what spelling errors he was referring to (there being only one in the document in his possession) remains uncertain; according to the Sergeant who gunned the hapless ex-official down, he seemed rather delirious when he muttered the words.

The King, now Hei3keiser, expressed dismay at the death of Harvey. "I had hoped that Emperor Edgard would be the first important person to get shot," he said to reporters back in Arminsbur3, "But you take the cards you're given." The death is an especially hard blow to the administration, as Harvey was the most likely candidate for Baron of one of the new Madlandian fiefs. It appears that, barring a divine revelation, the Hei3keiser may appoint John Harvey as Baron post-humus, as he feels that Harvey was the only real possiblity.

Harvey is the first Madlandian to die, pointing to a greater degree of intelligence throughout the country nicknamed Loonyville than had previously been anticipated. This has led the Keiser to remark, offhand, that perhaps "A total genocide and destruction of the Madlandian people is necessary, to complete the evil vision I had been I invaded the place." The Keiser then promptly shut up, realizing that he was sounding like Kieran of Brudwyn, a place which will forever live in corniness.

You can except the Arminsbur3 News to continue to give updates of the situation as time goes by, especially if the Emperor of Madland dies, which, insider sources tell us, is only a matter of time.

Arminy Annexes Madland

Today in Atreding 8, King Johanns I has officially entered the Empire of Alisaundre, formerly Madland, into the new Greater Arminian Ricch. The decree includes a number of draconian provisions, no doubt intended to ensure the safety of the Madlandian population during this turbulent time of change. The decision appears to have been prompted by the former Antican province's move into the Heidhrslandt, which was recently gifted to Arminy by Troy Thompson, for some reason or another. Based on this precedent, and a recent move to change Madland's name to the Kakistocracy of Loonyville, Madland has been incorporated as a third state, although one under martial law and with an impending genocide threatening to rear its head.

The dissolved Madlandian government was unavailable for comment, perhaps having fled the onslaught of Arminian soldiers, perhaps obeying the call for them to dissolve, or perhaps out partying. Their now unofficial reaction to their sudden loss of sovereignty remains to be seen. King Johanns of Arminy, however, had much to say, including that he sees this as a glorious beginning to an evil imperialism that may perhaps one day eclipse that of Babkha or Shireroth.

So far their has been no resistance within the new Arminian state, but it is expected to pick up over time as the Madlandians realize that they aren't a country anymore. The Arminsbur3 News will bring you the latest coverage on the situation as it comes in.

Week in Review 2

This week has seen at least one major development: the first promotion in the meritocracy system. Ric Lyon, Baron of Hurmu and recently returned citizen received an extra vote in the Ricchesdey for his Hurmu Territory Act, which is the first act written by someone other than the king. He was also appointed as Outlondreve, the first person to hold the position since the unfortunate Wahr incident earlier this year.

In an effort to clear up Ricchesdey opperating procedure, the King has issues his seventh Atreding, titled, aptly enough, "Ricchesdey Procedure." The King admits however that the procedure is not yet perfect, and thus must in the future likely be amended.

Progress has been made, through Baron Lyon's act and the one earlier proposed with the king towards a solution to Arminy's map problem. The King has already opened up negotiations with the MCS, even without the mandate of the Ricchesdey, believing that it's only a matter of time before the council passes the bills.

In addition, the Crandish football (soccer) team took third in the latest round of EIFA games. Upon hearing of his team's great success, Manager Dilerr Karlsesson said to "watch out for cranda to be a serious threat in the World Cup."

This marks the first of a weekly segment which will now be put out by this paper, wrapping up events within Arminy over the week. This is in order to spread news of Arminian accomplishments within and without its borders.

This week has seen the new Ricchesdey begin to function. The council has already decided that the United Kingdom will remain on the MCS map rather than relocate to the new Atteran map as favored by the king. A bill has been introduced to both reduce and relocate the current claims on the MCS as well.

Another issue discussed by the legislature has been the running of the national website, which has so far been done by the Repton Gefrægesearocræft Insettan, under the leadership of Dafitt Nortbefoon Bergsdrumfort, Baron of Norf-Mercye. The Baron has, however, by all accounts, including his own, been unable to finish the construction of the website, which is viewed by many as vital in order to attract new people to the Kingdom. Therefore the King has suggested the Insettan hire Baron Erick Antersesson (AKA Sander Dieleman) to work on the website, and have the Ricchesdey charter the Insettan as the official provider. This has prompted the King to introduce a bill to allow the council to create charten (charters). Debate has thusfar centered around the necessity of the bill.

In cultural news, work has begun on a national epic in Arminian, to explain the origins of the country. Currently titled "The Epic of Arminius," the work will be made up of ten books, and feature all the tradition facits of Medieval poetic epics, including battle, love, and betrayal. It is hoped the work will be complete to submit to the Cultural Fair in Morovia (The editor apologizes if the location has been misgiven). Insider sources say the plot will include several well known Micronationalists. It is written in Chaucerian style.

Despite the activity in the legislature, activity in Thunder Square has dropped down to next to nothing. The editor of the paper sincerely hopes that people will continue to post there and not just in the Ricchesdey.

Arminy establishes Meritocracy

In the latest Royal Atreding (decree), King Johanns I has laid the foundation for a meritocratic legislature and nobility system. The system is based on the principle that titles and numbers of votes should be based on what an individual has done for the nation. Although the system requires the king to distribute the votes and corresponding titles, it also allows for the Ricchesdey to give or take votes without the King's interferance.

The new system has begun with all citizen save the king assigned the rank of Baron (with the ranks of Erl, Aveling, and Hereto3 to aspire to), each with one vote. Each rank has its own privilages, with the highest ranks able to elect the next King. Issues that should be appearing before this council will be the fate of Arminy's MCS lands, whether they should be shrunken or moved to the new Atteran map, and the currency of the nation. Powers are not specifically given, so that the King and Ricchesdey will be defining their relationship by their actions. His Majesty, Johanns I, believes the system is in correspondance with the Germanic values of the Kingdom. Whether it will work remains to be seen.

Arminy Undergoes Major Cultural Inititives

Arminy is preparing to enter into major cultural changes. And, unlike most previous changes, the source of this latest spewing of alterations is not the King, but rather recently returned Arminian Ric Lyon, who has, in typical fashion, seen fit to throw the existing order to wind.

The proposals began with a conversatiuon with King Johanns V, in which Mr. Lyon suggested that Arminy's MCS land be shrunken down to more accurately reflect the population. The current plan would involve completely removing Arminian presence on Lyrica, home of the current capital, as well as North Tartary, the Eastern Heath, and possibly the Vaan Aujoen and Leilant. An earlier plan to relocate all territory to the north appears to have been discarded; Northworthy and Cranda will state on opposite ends of Prinitica.

The second half of the discussion involved further united Arminy. Among the unifiers will be the dropping of Crandish, Slobovian, and Northworthic from the official languages (Crandish will remain the official language of the Nor-Krantisk church, however) in favor of Arminian. Along these lines the first Arminian grammar is scheduled to be published this week, with a larger dictionary to follow. The King has also proposed a new nobility system, and Ric has suggested a 'meritocracy,' in which votes would be despensed based on merit. The only serious flaw to such a system would seem to be the granting of a merit vote being done by the King, however, it seems likely that the system could very well be implemented, as it coincides with the Germanic values of the Kingdom.

Arminian Constitution Revoked

In a speech just today, Arminian King Johanns I has revoked the Arminian constitution, stating: Due to the utter lack of progress both in our democratic institutions and constitutional convention, I hereby overstep my poorly defined bounds in the current constitution and declare a national state of emegency. I hereby cede myself, without precedent or example, all power, suspend our national constitution, and dissolve all government bodies, to be reconstituted at my direction.

While pledging to be "a benevolent dictator" the King seems certain to have some major changes in mind for the workings of the nation. He mentions in his speech the Nor-Krantisk church taking a larger role, and of course the governments of the Ancient Nordo-Germanic tribes.

While the situation could easily deteriorate into a perminant absolute monarchy, this does not go in line with the example of the Ancient Germans mentioned, nor with Johanns general philosophy. Optimistically, this ceasure of power could in fact lead to a new and improved Arminy, provided that positive guidance is granted the King in some issues.

Arminian Shipping Suffers under Cognitian Pirates

Ghawlama, one of Arminy's largest and once one of its busiest ports sits almost empty today, with no real sign of traffic on the normally frolicking River Glacei. The port is so vital to both Arminy's domestic and foreign imports that the tragic drop in traffic has attracted a great deal of concern from the government in Arminsbur3; the answer to this economic tragity seems to lie right across the river.

"It's those Shirerithian pirates," says twenty five year old Khajirausun, a North Tartary native and sailor. "When that Jacobus emperor, he take power in Cognito, the pirates, they get bold. We always have pirates, but never so many."

Emperor Jacobus of Lac Glacei and Cognito, two duchies in Shireroth, has indeed seen a great boost in piracy from his territory and nearby Jaris. Piracy is as old as the sea around here, but in a sudden reversal of long standing policy, Jacobus has actually encouraged the pirates and issues letters of marque; a move which he believes will strengthen the local economy and help many impoverished people along the sea shore.

"Many of the people in this area are very poor tartars," the Emperor commented, "Who in recent winters have seen there very livelihood, their cattle, killed in zhwds. I am merely ensuring that they can legally obtain substenance." A zhwd (zhood) is a tartar word, meaning the starvation of cattle due to snow so deep that they can find no grass. Jacobus was much more reluctant to explain his building of a 'toll-fortesses' at every narrow part of the shared Arminy-Shirerithian river and at every straight between Jaris and Cognito, the proceeds of which go into his own pockets.

Needless to say, this policy has caused widespread anger in in both Arminy and Antica, whose economies largely rely on shipping through the Sea of Melangia. Since its implentation shipping has ground to a screeching halt, and unless something is done the entire economies of Antica and Arminy could be seriously damaged.

Khajirausun is not optimistic about the prospects of a peaceful resolution. "I come from farming family further north. We move to city when I three, and we begin earn good money, and own nice house. Unless something done, we be force into poverty. That Jacobus, he not gonna give up without fight." Khajirausun seems to speak for the vast majority of this multi-cultural port town, with its strange mix of Tartar, Crandish, and foreign custums. He also speaks for shippers and sailors across Arminy, who cannot get through the gauntlet of pirates and robber barons and make a profit.

The Arminian government has refused comment until a full plan of action has been discussed.

Wahr Crisis Intensifies

The controversy and crisis over Gustaf Wahr, former Arminian intelligence leader deepened yesterday, following comments by him that he did not care what happened to Arminy. A confrontation developed between him and the King, Johanns fonn Klosso, and lead to Free Wahr accusing the King of leaking his identity as an intelligence operative around the Microworld. Upon investigation of the charge, government officials discovered that there indeed had been a leak, and with relative ease traced it back to one former Major General Troi Raibert Thompsohnd, who, in an incredible lack of foresight by Arminian officials, had at one point headed the intelligence service here.

At the end of the argument Free Wahr editted all his posts in Arminy to be replaced with the symbol "%/." The King has requested his charges be expanded to include destruction of History. Certain threatening notes were also sent to the King, but as the evidence was accidently destroyed, no charges will be pressed on those grounds. As of now Free Wahr has fled to Antica, where he had apparently been promised refuge of some sort. Whether this refuge will remain open to him for very long remains in question.

Johanns Recuses Self as Judge; Charges in Attera Possible

Today Johanns fonn Klosso, King of Arminy and previously judge of the Gustaf Wahr treason case has recused himself, citing his inability to remain objective on the matter. He has instead nominated Daffit Bergsdrumfort, who, as leader of the Moot, the King believes would be more objective. Free Wahr has contested this nomination however, stating that he would like Dilerr Karlsesson, lately elected King of Cranda, to serve as judge. In an IM conversation, Free Wahr explained his reasoning as the following: "[H]e is the king of Kranda. [I]t is my right to have the king judge me." This remains the final setback in the trial, which should commence by this Friday provided one of the candidates is selected to replace his Majesty.

Meanwhile Wahr has been banned from the forums of Attera, most likely the first step in a separate trial there. Via the Arminian King and Atteran Minister of State, Wahr submitted a letter to 'all the Atterans" expressing his feelings on the issue, and offering to strike some form of deal. There has of yet been no comment by Attera on the message.

Further coverage of the trial, or possibly trials if someone really feels like making Free Wahr suffer, will be provided here as it occures.

Gustaf Wahr to be Tried for Treason!

Gustaf Wahr, Arminian intelligence agent and longtime member of the nation has been accused in a plot to trick Attera into destroying Arminy. The plan, by Gustaf's own account, was to temporarily delete the Atteran forums, causing them to retaliate against him, destroying files which would then cause Arminy to be erased. The reasoning behind this is Free Wahr's hatred of Attera's weapons capacities, and 'for kicks.' Wahr admitted to the plot after a confrontation with Attera's Empire Mik'el, in which he was called a 'small sardine,' among other things. The plot had been more or less confessed to King Johanns I the night before.

Although an offer of amnesty was given, Free Wahr refused to repent from his intended destruction of the forums, and so charges of treason and intent to commit treason have been levied. Certain unverified rumors also place Free Wahr in league with William Jesmer's terrorist assault on Slobovia Feanova and Mediterranea. The King has made no comment on these allegations, but they would seem unlikely to be proven.

Among the more bizarre parts of the episode is the involvement of former Crandish founding member and influencial citizen Major General Vladimir Volkov, who was either aware of the plot or actively supported it. It is not believed that anyone else was involved, although Free Wahr claims to have been seeking outside help as of last night.

The King has declared the date a day of national mourning. The trial will begin within days.

Dispute Over Red Antillies and Charlotta Ends

The other day an increasingly dividing debate over whether or not to open trade relations with the Dutch communist nations of the Red Antillies was brought to an end with the announcement that chief opponent to the move, Erick Antersson (AKA Sander Dieleman) was no longer in opposition, upon hearing word that Mayo had signed a treaty with its former motherstate. Thus ended a several day argument started in Thunder Square, which had involved important people from this nations and some from others. The King, who was in favor of the treaty, appears to be victorious for the moment, despite the fact that he was on the verge of cutting the treaty due to lack of popular support just minutes before the news that Antersson had dropped his opposition to it. This debate in the Square could spell the beginning of some form of opposition party in the nation, however such an outcome is uncertain.

Also discussed in the debate were Arminy's growing relationship and alliance with the Solomonic Empire of Attera, to which Free Wahr remained adamantly opposed. He stated: "We seem to follow the lead of one nation and one nation only. We have opened our doors to them due to the control of all means of law in this fine nation. We have become a colony and I for one am no longer interested in being a puppet even if our King denies the claim." This prompted responses from both the King and the Emperor of Attera and recent Arminian citizen, Mik'el Tzion. Said the King: "We are not a colony, nor a puppet state. We are an independent nation which is engaged in the forging of its own destiny, by blood and iron if necessary...Our growing relationship with Attera is only a natural consequence of our shared values and priorities. To suggest that we are under Atteran control is absurd." Mr. Tzion, who will be our final quote today due to thsi reporters annoyance at the overtype, said this: "[T]he Atteran Empire does not seek to destabilize, conquer, unduely influencen, nor wish to make Arminy a puppet of any sort. We do seek your friendship and cooperation on many issues that affect not only our local sector of micronationalism, but also the Intermicronational community at large." The King has said he will make the Treaty of New Bergl, which will be a formal alliance between the lands and also the Empire of Antica, public in the near future.

King Johanns calls for Constitutional Convention

The other day recently elected King Johanns I placed a bill in the Moot which would create a new constitutional convention. The convention would address several problems in Arminy's traditionally ignored constitution, and make it more viable as a legal document from which to govern a country. All citizens would be able to discuss and participate, with the King calling upon them to look at the examples of the Atteran and Babkhan constitutions for ideas. The convention will likely leave the overall structure of the government intact, while abolishing the Althing and creating a Chancellor's post.

In this move, Arminy appears to have adopted one of the traits of its largest state, Cranda, which went through a seccession of four constitutions, none of which were entirely adequate. This combined with the fact that the constitution is generally ignored by lawmakers and the populace, shows the vast influence Cranda has had on this nation from even before Slobovia seceded. With luck this tradition can be brought to a swift and useful end rather than a continuation by this newest convention.

Johanns Elected King

High Priest Daffit Bergsdrumfort officially closed voting in the Moot today, as Johanns fonn Klosso was elected into office by three out of the four people who'd taken the time out of their busy schedules to vote. Where are the nerds of the world when we need them? In a brief public victory speech this afternoon, Fonn Klosso thanked the Arminian people for electing him and stated that "As King I plan on bringing about a new era, in which we will continue our quest for greatness." He went on to say that he would eleborate more on his objectives, which, based on his earlier statements, will likely involve further cultural projects such as Erick Anterson's (AKA Sander Dieleman's) Arminian rune project, as well as various strengthening initiatives to bring back activity and people. It is believed that the former Arminian Prime Minister will be using many of the lessens learned while working for the Emperor of Attera to reach his goals.

In an ironic twist, it was that same Emperor, Mik'el Tzion, whom fonn Klosso defeated to win the Kingship. Mik'el entered the race in a surprising twist, seeing his chance to run following the announcement that traditional Crandish opposition leader Saddam Hussein (who has run for just about every office since the days of Cranda, and always lost) would not be running this time. The Emperor stated that he was running to make sure that the elections appeared democratic and not a farce, and dispite realities (;)) they do seem to have been that way.

As his first act, fonn Klosso has pledged support in finding those involved in the 'Gobbler' terrorist attacks.

Fonn Klosso Outlines Objectives for Kingship

In a brief speech given today in Thunder Square, candidate for king Johanns fonn Klosso announced his intentions once elected. His reforms and calls for action touched a generally nationalist spirit, but the question remains whether it will be able to rescue the ailing nation from its current crisis. Fonn Klosso has, among other things, called for the creation of a chancellor, and the absorption of the Althing into the Moot, thus both intensifying and simplifying the Arminian system of government. His other calls were primarily cultural, including a new flag and national anthem.

With elections to be held by the Moot in two days and no other candidates nominated, Fonn Klosso seems poised to take the kingship no matter what his platform is. If he can rescue the nation from its current bout of troubles, he will be worthy of the kingship indeed.

In a surprising turn of events, our beloved sovereign King Dilerr I Karlsesson has announced his resignation from the kingship. His Majesty, which we may still call him until the elections are over, has cited his own inactivity, and placed some of the blame for the recent bout of inactivity in the nation on his own shoulders. This makes the King's decision to step down extremely noble, as he is giving up power for the good of the nation. He goes on to state that elections should take palce as soon as possible to elect a new King; hoepfully a date will be set soon.

The announcment is still still fresh for any significant discussion to have taken place as to who will run for the next king, but Crandish King and former Prime Minister Johanns fonn Klosso has already announced his candacy. He has, in his announcement, declared his intention to sponsor reforms of the system which he initially drafted, saying that many of his simplications were blocked by Slobovians prior to that state's leaving.

Today the People's Fantasy-Simulated Norton Awards, or FNORDS, were presented in Tymaria city, which this newspaper arbitarily chose to locate the ceremony, by everyone's favorite once-and-future-Kaiser, Erik Metzler, under his Mercurivs login and with the speech reportedly by Scott Alexander. Confused? So were we. The committee had voted to give out thirteen medals in twelve catagories. The catagories, and their winners were:

Attera to Found Four Monarchies Football Association

In a move seen as a lifesaver by his Majesty King Dilerr, for allowing him to get his grounded sports league's team a chance of competition, his Majesty Emperor Mik'el Tzion of the Atterans has invited " four of Arminy's best football teams to be a part of the Four Monarchies Football Association." As suggested at this articles beginning, the invitation has been received warmly with the Rohingrad/Rakhukhota, Kiezlant, and Kloss teams already having expressed interest. According to Emperor Mik'el, our four teams would then play each other, and after this face our top team would face the top teams of the other Association members. Shockingly, especially in light of the name, the number of Association members will be four, and their form of government will be monarchy.

The Emperor states in his post that he wishes to start the league on the 15th of August, giving teams wishing to join in two more days before they are barred entry. The Emperor has further stated in his post that he wishes for this to become an annual event, which would no doubt benefit our entire sporting setor. Due to the international nature of this league the Diiteng looks forward to some spectacular riots rivalling even those which occur during the World Cup, and the possible destruction of several stadiums and/or the cities which hold them.

Arminy votes on Merging Empty States

Recently the Moot passed an amendment allowing it to merge states deemed empty by a two thirds majority, and just this week the utterly shocking and unexpected decision to use this power was taken. That's right people, Arminy is now voting to merge the near empty (as we shall call them lest we offend the tumbleweed) states of Hurmu and Lorelei with the not quite-so-near-empty state of Northworthy. This move would bring the number of Arminian states down to two, which it already is in all practicality, and greatly smoothen the running of the Kingdom, although given the general state of Arminian efficiency, this will likely prove to be no more than a drop of oil in the machinery's rusted gears. The bill seems absolutely certain to pass, due to the general fact that no one in either of the states about to be annexed is present to protest, and the fact that both states are devoid of life.

The states in question, Lorelei and Hurmu, were created fairly recently, Hurmu after a brief independence movement which resulted in their statehood, and Lorelei by Slobovians loyal to the federal government. Unfortunately the Hurmu, once granted federal status, failed to appear in any major form upon the boards (in fact the only post in their forum is by the King), and the Loreleians, no doubt seeking to immitate their mother country, disappeared from the face of the Earth in a silent whimper. Dispite the fact that both states will be placed under the Northworthic crown, the bills creater, local culture guro, and did I mention incredibly handsome muscleman Johanns fonn Klosso, believes that both cultures can continue to be represented in the nation. We here at the Diiteng expect as much will occur.

Arminy's Discussion Board Moves to New Facility

The National Discussion Board moved into its new facility yesterday (Tuesday, 20th). On Saturday, the newly upgraded Repton Gefrægesearocræft Insettan (Repton Institute of Information Technology) setup the new PHPBB based boards and tested the systems used for building up the system, and for transferring records from the old EZBoard run facility.

Technicians determined that the system was ready for migration on Monday, and so spent the entire night, and Tuesday morning building in equipment, and migrating data and users across. In the afternoon, the weary technicians were treated to free beer at a local Pub, where international celebrity, Trevon Andarosel (who was on tour in the region) visited to speak to the workers.

The final migrations were completed by the early hours of Wednesday, and this afternoon any bugs in the system were cleared out. A live chat system is expected to be ready by Thursday.

The move included the Public Discussion Network, (previously run from popular gathering place, Thunder Square) and the Moot Forum, a government system accessible to all citizens, which will be managed from the Capital.

The old site will become an archive, but currently is being used by those who have yet to complete migration.

The facility is part of Repton’s $120 pa Gefrægesearocræft Insettan, funded by the Norworthic Royal Court, which provides web based systems for a number of Micronations. The Institute includes a 1,000 Megabyte storage unit, and a 51200 Megabyte a month transfer capability.

Editor of the Repton ǽrende: This move should be great for the nation, both in terms of the facilities that can be made available, and the security of the system. This is also good for local jobs, so I, for one, am glad that is has been done.

Fonn Klosso publishes Satire of Slobovia

Earilier this week, the highly talented and dashingly handsome Johanns fonn Klosso introduced to the world his latest triumph, "A Brief History of Slobovia." The satire is about two Microsoft word pages long at 12 times new roman, and satirized those qualities we've come to love the best about Slobovia, namely Troy Thompson and Troy Thompson. I think Troy Thompson is also mentioned.

When asked whether he thought the book would dampen Armino-Slobovian relations, fonn Klosso replied that he believed that as it was not in any way connected to Arminian government policy it should not affect relations. Whether or not the Slobovians will heed Outlondreve fonn Klosso's words remains to be seen. This reporter personally believes the world could use some more heated debates.

Mixed Reaction to Atteran Doomsday Bomb

In this thread at the Scheheradze Convention, Atteran Emperor HSIH Mik'el Tzion I, announced the testing of a new doomsday weapon, "Makonnen's Enlightenment".

This announcement has been met with mixed reactions, ranging from firm approval, to stern reprimand. Some even doubted that the weapon exists, believing it to be more like a toy gun being used to threaten others into submission.

Supporters say that this, and other weapons in the hands of Olive Branch Community members can be a great security aid, thus giving members freedom from fear, freeing them to pursue better relations with each others. Those against the tests preach the dangers of a powerful Attera using threats to take over the sector.

The King of Arminy, the Kiaser of Shireroth, and the Grand Vizier of Babkha have all made statements.

A major discussion of this issue, involving people of many nations, has started in Shireroth on the back of King Ozarka Monto's naive questioning of the existence of electronic arms.

Weapons of mass destruction? Pooey!

However, in the Atteran Response to the Feianovan Delegate, The Emperor has given reasons for the program, and denounces the reaction of some as hysterical and hypocritical. He also reveals leaked documents that show that Babkha has programs of it's own, that are in the same class as the Enlightenment. Arminian High Priest Daffit Bergsdrumfort said about this, "at least Attera was open about what weaponry it has...Babkha has had server killing software for a while, but has not admitted it to the general public."

Editor of the Erb Traders News: It is obvious that this news will rock around the military, intelligence, and diplomatic offices of this sector and beyond for a long time. Officials will need to use more of the herb, but are unlikely to do so. However, because of the incorrect reaction of some in power, unneeded hostilities could arise, stifling trade. Thus I see a fall in the international herb market, with lower prices in local coffee houses and stalls, due to shrinking foreign markets.

Arminy prepares to open New Football League

The ancient European ritual of Football has lately been brought to Arminy, with the arrival of the Arminian Premier Football League. Whether riots in the streets and the entire nation stopping to watch the games will go on remains to be seen, however knowing Arminy we can look forward to some wacky behavior, such as this reporter forgetting he ever fielded a team and then discovering they've become champions. The League has received the support of the government in a big way, which is hardly surprising given that the King, Dilerr Karlsesson, was the one who founded it. Dilerr has been involved quite extensively in micronational football in the past, including the running of the Yellowist Menelmacari Sportsleague, and also the couching of Cranda's Micro-World Cup team. The League has also received the support of misplaced Austrian Gustaf Wahr, always happy to bring the higher European culture to the American barbarians. And just think what we Yanks have been missing. For all you Americans out there (and I mean North Americans, as South America seems fully enlightened to the joys of football), when was the last time you saw a decent sports riot? And I mean one that really tore the place up, not just lit some cars on fire.

Whether the league will bring riots or no, the league has attracted attention, with five teams signed up already, four from within Arminy, and one from the nation of Tománn, a Celtic state famous for confusing us all by its use of two names. To be fair, Cranda was far worse, with a full of four accepted spellings of its name in English, a name in Crandish, and an adjective form that disregarded the general rules of English. The teams thusfar have taken culturally inspired names, ranging from Germanic themes to national animals to American baseball teams. Maybe Tománn's placed a good bet too, seeing as the once universally deplored Detroit Tigers have just whipped the New York Yankees 8-0.

Arminy Debates Leaving Ezboard

Daffit Bergsdrumfort, High Priest of Nor-Krantism and maintainer of the Arminian website, among otherthings, today announced that he may be upgrading his webhost package, which would grant him, among other things, the ability to create a PHP board for Arminy. The question has therefore been posed, should Arminy leave Ezboard for a new board.
So far no one has actively spoken against the proposal, but Outlondreve Johanns fonn Klosso has cautioned that, "[we should] wait for the advice of our erstwhile defense expert Gustaf [Wahr]" before making any decision about moving.

Free Wahr has recently taken the seat in the Althing vacated by Theonen Helios, and stands a good chance of being nominated for Marschall of the Arminian Armed forces. In related news Johanns fonn Klosso has proposed a complete makeover of Arminy's recwar forces in response to the recent Babkhan decision to make the only place where the two nations share a border, Terre D'Riches, a military zone.
